Psychologist Pleas Guilty to Child Pornography Charges

Joseph Belanger, 61, a former North Dakota State Hospital psychologist who spent the past decade examining sex offenders has pleaded guilty in federal court to two counts of receiving child pornography.  Thousands of images and videos of young children being violently sexually assaulted were found on Belanger’s laptops, computer, CD’s and zip disks.  According to The Forum, Belanger worked at the State Hospital for more than 20 years and testified in court on whether convicted sex offenders were dangerous and should be confined indefinitely for treatment.

He faces a minimum of five years in federal prison at his sentencing on December 11.
