Chad Karacsonyi, 33, of Kelowna, British Columbia, lent his laptop to his girlfriend. On it were 1,660 images and 71 videos of girls as young as 3-years-old being raped. His girlfriend found the cache of photos in a folder containing images downloaded from a peer-to-peer program and took the laptop to police.
59% of child pornography possessors are or were married. Many more have relationships with adults that fall short of marriage.
That means girlfriends, boyfriends, wives, husbands, cousins, in-laws, children, and friends can find child pornography on loved ones’ computers and do. Research conducted with child pornography offenders in Butner Federal Prison, North Carolina show that only 2% of child pornography offenders can honestly say they have never molested a child, and American children in those rape photos are in dire need of rescue.
If you find child pornography on a loved one’s computer, please report it immediately to your local law enforcement or NCMEC’s Cybertipline at www.cybertipline.com, or call 1-800-843-5678.
