The Marysville Police Department has critical needs:
Marysville is a small, rural town north of Sacramento that has the good fortune of employing an experienced investigator who also has an extensive education and background with computers. Naturally, law enforcement agencies in all of Sutter, but also Butte and Yuba counties turn to him for help with computer and cell phone evidence. However, already under extreme financial duress, Marysville Police Department has no budget for forensic analysis machines, and the wait time at the nearest Internet Crimes Against Children task force forensic lab can span months. The investigator has invested over $6,000 of his own money in equipment, which was instrumental in rescuing a foster child who was being sexually abused and photographed by his foster father. The foster father had taken 20,000 images of the abuse of this child before he was caught. It was only through the efforts of this detective and the purchases he made with his own funds that this child was given justice. Please help this detective get the basic forensic computer so essential to an entire three-county area.
Request: On behalf of the Marysville Police Department, we are requesting a Digital Intelligence FRED (Forensic Recovery of Evidence Device) computer vital to forensic processing of computers seized as evidence in child pornography investigations. The FRED Sr. can process over one terabyte of data at a time and has an expected service life of 3 years. Installation of one FRED will allow the team to eliminate a current six-month forensic analysis wait time under steadily increasing case loads and seized hard-drive sizes.
Cost: $6,099
Any amount will help. Please donate any amount to help Marysville Police Department rescue local children.
