The Connecticut Internet Crimes Against Children task force has critical needs:
Connecticut’s Internet Crimes Against Children task force, run by the Connecticut State Police, is responsible for training, guiding and supporting local law enforcement agencies throughout the state, but has not been provided enough resources to help purchase cell phone forensic devices for every local law enforcement partner. Instead, partners, even in far-away, and rural areas, must drive to the central forensic lab in Meriden or to another local agency that has a device in order to review potentially life-saving evidence contained in images, texts, and calls on the cell phone. If an agency forensic lab is closed or the device is in use, it’s possible children who are being abused and could be rescued will continue to wait…and wait….
In order to fulfill the overwhelming demand of local agencies for better access to cell phone forensic devices, Connecticut ICAC is requesting three Cellebrite UFED devices for three geographically diverse local law enforcement agencies in the state.
For an investment of $12,165, or $4,055 per unit, the team can purchase three Cellebrite UFED’s to distribute to allow better ability statewide to rescue children at any time. Any amount will help us reach our goal.
