HART
HART - Helping Advocates Rebound from Trauma
In 2019 and again in 2020, we received a generous grant from the Motorola Solutions Foundation to expand our reach beyond Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Teams. We now offer a mental health and wellness program that focuses on a range of stressors and traumatic events suitable for professionals who work in roles that expose them to traumatic materials and events, and the trauma of others.
Who might benefit from this program? Law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel, social service providers, those working in victim services, and those in other “helping” professions.
Helping Advocates Rebound from Trauma is currently offered as a three-part virtual course in vicarious trauma mitigation, for a total of 8 training hours. Once all three parts are completed, attendees will receive a certificate of completion. The program outline includes:
- What is vicarious trauma?
- Definitions of trauma responses
- Identifying signs and symptoms of trauma
- Tools and techniques for building resilience
- Application of coping skills
- Incorporation of team and family support
If you are interested in a HART training for your staff or volunteers, please contact us to be invited to the next scheduled free training. If you have a staff or group of 25 people or more, we can arrange a private virtual training for your organization, and we may be available to bring this program to in-person conferences or events soon. Please contact us for more information.
